Located in Columbus, Ohio, Mount Carmel Behavioral Health offers both inpatient and outpatient programs for adults age 18 and older of all genders whose struggles with a mental health concern have kept them from living full, productive lives. These include:
- Acute inpatient program – This program provides crisis intervention services for adults who are suffering from severe, ongoing symptoms of a mental health concern.
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP) – Adults receive highly structured outpatient care for about nine hours a week.
Every person completes an initial screening to determine which level of care is right for them. When you are ready to transition out of our care, you will receive a customized discharge plan to guide the next phase of your recovery journey.
Inpatient Program
Inpatient treatment is usually a short-term experience designed to help you achieve the level of stabilization that will allow you to return home or transition to a lower level of care. Typical length of stay in the inpatient program at Mount Carmel Behavioral Health is five to seven days, but we base each person’s actual length of stay on their individual progress and needs.
During your inpatient stay at our hospital in Columbus, Ohio, you will receive round-the-clock care from a team of experienced and compassionate professionals. These dedicated experts will develop and deliver a personalized care plan that will address your unique needs and prepare you to make sustained, long-term progress.
The care you receive throughout your time in the inpatient program at Mount Carmel Behavioral Health occurs within a safe, highly structured, and extremely supportive environment. You’ll follow a carefully planned schedule that will include a variety of therapeutic interventions, nutritious meals, recreational activities, and time to rest and reflect.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Mount Carmel Behavioral Health is an ideal option for adults who are medically stable and no longer require the round-the-clock monitoring of an inpatient program.
This level of care offers more support than traditional outpatient therapy provides, allowing you to receive intensive therapy while going to work or attending school. Many people step down to the IOP at our hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after completing a higher level of care, though some people start their healing process right at the IOP level.
In our IOP, you will take part in services three hours a day, three days a week, for up to 10 weeks. We will work closely with you to determine how long you should participate in our IOP based on your specific progress and goals.
